Summer 2023 English Language Classes

Adult LINC & ESL non-credit classes are free for eligible adult immigrants (REFUGEE CLAIMANT or CONVENTION REFUGEE or PERMANENT RESIDENT or LIVE-IN CAREGIVER or NATURALIZED CANADIAN CITIZEN) and you must have a valid language assessment.
  • Fee for services classes are NOT available for Visitors & Study Permits that do not fall under the federal or provincial requirements for LINC or ESL classes

Summer Schedule: Tuesday July 4 to Thursday August 3, 2023

Morning class schedule: Monday to Thursday: 9:00am-11:30am
Afternoon class schedule: Monday to Thursday: 12:00pm-2:30pm

NO CLASSES ON FRIDAYS for Summer 2023

Registration for Summer ESL In-Person Day classes in Ajax and Summer Online Day classes will open on Monday May 22, 2023.

Students registering for online classes must have a laptop or computer at home and access to WiFi.  Students cannot join with a phone.

  • Improve your spelling and grammar for every day use such as basic email, note writing, working with forms and more

Important Information for ONLINE students:

Students must have a computer, laptop or tablet at home with Internet or WiFi to participate in the Online Classes.

You CANNOT attend the Online classes with a phone.

The school has a limited number of Chromebooks available to lend out to  local DURHAM students.  Please email the office at LearnEnglish@dcdsb.ca if you want to have your name added to the waiting list for a Chromebook.

  • D2L is an online website which will be the learning platform used by all classes
  • Availability of courses will be dependent on capacity and needs
  • You will be contacted by email when a seat is available for you to start to study

3. Important Information:

  • Attendance Policy - students must participate each day (Monday - Thursday) using the Zoom and D2L platforms.  Poor attendance will result in removal from the class

4. Need Technology?

  • Technology Required - Online students must have a computer, Chromebook, tablet or laptop to participate in the class.
    • If you only have a cellphone/smartphone you will not be able to fully participate in the class.  
  • The Ajax Library has a lending/borrowing program available for residents of Durham.
