Accelerated Personal Support Worker Program for Resident Aides

Free Tuition With No Fees and Paid Placement Available

If you are currently working as a Resident Aide, you can accelerate your PSW certification.    

Orientation is mandatory and you must attend one of the orientation sessions and write the literacy exam.  See details below.

Session Dates for 2021-22

There are two intake options for the 2021-22 year:

Session 1: September 20, 2021 - January 21, 2022

Session 2: February 7 - June 8, 2022

Program completion dependent upon placement hours.

Program Details

  • Flexible programming allows students to continue to work while completing school
  • A combination of online and in-school training at Good Sheperd CS in Port Perry
  • Earn 6 high school credits while earning your PSW accreditation
  • Paid placement dependent upon meeting program expectations


  • Currently working as a Resident Aide or in Long Term Care
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum score of 80% on the Literacy Test provided by the school
  • Successful personal interview
  • Proof of Canadian Citizenship/Permanent Residency

Orientation Sessions

Students must attend an orientation session to begin the application process:

Fall Semester Orientation - Virtual

September 1 from 12:30 - 3:00 pm or 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  

The September 1 literacy test will be virtual and link will be emailed on the day of orientation.  You will have 2 hours to complete and submit the literacy test back on September 1 by 2:30 pm for the day orientation or 8:00 pm for the evening orientation.
