DragonQuest Camp
Campers engage in immersive tabletop role‑playing adventures that strengthen literacy skills through collaborative storytelling.
Throughout this program, students who have completed Grades 6, 7, or 8 will enhance their reading comprehension as they explore richly described settings and narrative challenges, while writing skills develop through creating backstories, drafting character journals, and contributing to shared world‑building.
Through collaborative problem‑solving, guided discussion, and strategic decision‑making, participants practice oral communication, critical thinking, and team‑based reasoning. Campers also learn how dice rolls and simple probability rules determine the outcomes of actions and events, helping them understand how chance, strategy, and narrative interact during play. The program introduces role‑playing using systems inspired by the world’s most popular fantasy tabletop games.
By creatively interacting with fictional scenarios and working together to shape the outcomes of their stories, campers build confidence in literacy, narrative structure, vocabulary, and analytical skills—all while experiencing the excitement of cooperative adventure in a safe, supportive environment.
