Hairstyling and Aesthetics Camp

Hairstyling & Aesthetics Camp is a fun experience with a focus on literacy and numeracy for students who have finished Grade 6, 7 or 8. During this week-long camp, students will learn the basics of hairstyling and aesthetics in a safe environment while utilizing literacy and numeracy skills.

Students will learn basic theory behind hair styling procedures such as shampooing, blow-drying, and styling of hair as well as hair colour and makeup applications.  Students will use mannequin to practice and gain experience. The focus is on a fun and safe environment filled with learning!
The camp is taught by a certified Durham Catholic District School Board teacher who is also a licensed hairstylist.

Experiential learning camps "enhance the already rich learning environments of our schools, providing students with alternative ways of engaging in their learning."  Through the Experiential Learning Cycle, students will actively participate, reflect and apply their learning.  "The development of a reflective mindset gives students the ability to turn every experience into a learning experience."  Community- Connected Experiential Learning, Ministry of Education, pages 8 & 9.
