What is the Basic Military Training Program?

The Basic Military Training Program allows students the opportunity to earn secondary school credits while training with the Canadian Armed Forces.  Students will participate in military training and experience military life toward their Basic Military Qualifications.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to apply:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must have 16 credits prior to the start of the program
  • Canadian Citizen
  • Parental Consent if under the age of 18

Program Dates

Part I: October 2018 - March 2019, every Tuesday evening & two weekends each month (Friday evening - Sunday evening)

Part II: April - July 2019, every Tuesday evening and some weekend commitment

Part III: July - August 2019, Monday - Friday (full day)

Secondary School Credits

Students have the potential to earn 4 credits:

PAD3O1 - Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities, Basic Military Training

PAD3O9 & CHV2O9 - 3 credits of Cooperative Education

Other Considerations

  • Must be able to fully commit to program dates
  • Applicants must be medically fit and pass an examination and fitness test

Basic Military Training Program Information Sessions

Students/Parents are invited to attend an evening information session to learn details about the program and the application process.  Students under the age of 18 must attend an information session with a parent/guardian to be eligible to apply.

Dates:          Thursdays - May 3, May 24, July 5, July 26, September 13 or September 27

Time:            7:00 - 8:00 pm - Presentation

                     8:00 - 9:00 pm - Question & Answer
