Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are taking part in the Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre’s summer Recreation and Fitness Camp at Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School. During this 4 day camp, students learn the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying fit, while having fun, trying new workout routines and playing sports.

“This camp is lots of fun,” said Nicole, a Grade 8 student. “It’s a positive environment and we support each other.”

Teacher, Mrs. Gallagher added, “We focus on teaching functional fitness and literacy – so as a group we have discussed the importance of nutrition and eating healthy foods, our resting and active heart rate, and fitness.”

For students the most important things they are taking away from the camp are:

  • Always exercise;
  • Eat healthy;
  • Drink lots of water;
  • Have a healthy lifestyle;
  • Exercise more; and
  • Be patient.
