The Durham Catholic District School Board's Student Services department is hosting a free event for parents and community members.

Connecting with our Children and Teens: Promoting Positive Mental Health

Keynote speaker: Jennifer Kolari, Child and Family Therapist, Founder of Connected Parenting

Using anecdotes and humour, Jennifer Kolari will introduce the audience to Connected Parenting model. Both theory and practice will be explained step-by-step. Participants will leave inspired with practical and useful strategies to try with their children as soon as they get home.

Breakout sessions will be offered by Durham Catholic District School Board Student Services staff and community partners on topics including: 

  • Stress Behaviour vs. Misbehaviour
  • Understanding and Supporting Your Worried Child
  • Navigating Relationshiips and Social Situations
  • Substance Use: What you Need to Know
  • Helping Your Child Build a Healthy Body Image and Self-Concept
  • Mindful Parenting
  • Social Media and Parenting
  • Parent Resilient Children and Teens

Doors open at 5:15 p.m. for registration and displays
